The Pearl of Polish Economy, 2010

Zakłady Chemiczne “Alwernia” S.A. has once again been honoured with a prestigious title, “The Pearl of Polish Economy”, in the 8th edition of the ranking of Polish enterprises, organised by the English-language economic magazine, “Polish Market”, and the Institute of Economic Sciences at the Polish Academy of Sciences. The distinction has been granted in the “Great Pearls” category. The Company received the award for consistent implementation of the company’s policy and strategy, and for occupying the position of a leader among the most dynamic and efficient companies in Poland.
The certificate, giving the Company the right to use the title of the “Pearl of Polish Economy” in all information materials together with the award logo, was accepted on 19 November 2010 by Mr. Mirosław Szpila, Sales Director, at a festive closing gala held at the Royal Castle in Warsaw. It is the second “Pearl of Polish Economy” title awarded to Z.Ch. “Alwernia” S.A. The company received the first award back in 2009.
As in the previous years, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Economy Waldemar Pawlak and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences prof. Michał Kleiber were honorary patrons of the event.
The ranking is drawn up on the basis of a unique methodology using seven indicators commonly analysed by audit companies. The indicators assess such elements as efficiency, dynamics and financial liquidity. The fact that objective calculations assign a company to a specific rank on the list guarantees the ranking’s impartiality. Over 1200 companies took part in this year’s edition, 181 of which were honoured. The companies that met the stringent economic criteria set up by the PAS included the ones that achieved the greatest progress with three production factors: capital, fixed assets and labour. This year’s ranking is exceptional, as it is based on results achieved in the year that witnessed economic downturn.
The ranking is organised every year since 2003, and it is considered a form of an economic barometer.
